Bio

Rachana Dixit is a health policy journalist living in Washington, DC. She writes for InsideHealthPolicy.com, a subscription publication of Inside Washington Publishers, covering implementation of the Obama health care law and day-to-day developments in Medicare and Medicaid.

After receiving a bachelor’s degree in journalism and French from James Madison University, Rachana spent the better part of a year teaching English to French high school students, indulging in the wonders of French cuisine and traversing the borders of Western Europe on a fast (and cheap) rail system. But, as journalism was and still is her true love, upon returning from Europe she moved to the idyllic and uncharacteristically urban Charlottesville, Virginia, to become The Daily Progress city reporter.

Since then she has jumped from local to national politics and policy making, eagerly taking on health care reporting and covering developments related to the complex and highly controversial Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Whether it’s insurance market reforms, the Supreme Court, delivery system changes, or interest group lobbying on regulation, Rachana is fascinated by the ever-changing nature of our health care system and is always looking for the next big story.
